Michel Gondry's new film, The Science of Sleep opens today in London - it features the work of a wonderful artist, Lauri Faggioni. I have always loved going to the cinema, we used to have fantastic indie cinemas here in London; the Ritzy, the Scala, the Everyman, the Electric - all sadly multi-screened, expired or too expensive to even think about going to any more. The Scala was particularly quirky with trains rumbling beneath your feet and a cat that wandered under the seats during the films. There were always double or even triple bills of European art house movies. The one remaining place to go is Riverside Studios in Hammersmith which continues the tradition for great programming.
Junebug, directed by Phil Morrison, features paintings by another brilliant artist and fellow blogger, Ann Wood. It is a great film, funny, poignant and all about art !
