Jamila's pic on the blog is genuinely one of my favourites of all that I've seen. Its rusty tones and murky backdrop reminded me of photographers I really admire, the Starn twins and the Douglas brothers particularly. It also looks like it could have been taken a century ago. She's got a good eye. More please!
"Mandy Prowse studied painting and printmaking at Maidstone College of Art. She explores natural and human forms and the interconnectedness of all things. Themes in her work relate to birth, mortality and metamorphosis. Her altered books are minimalistic and organic combining a modern aesthetic with an almost Victorian touch. If you told me these books were 100 years old I wouldn’t think twice about it.”
