Ailsa Ogden

Kidney (2), originally uploaded by Binkacrosstich.

I love this series of recycled organs by Ailsa Ogden - she is definitely an artist to watch. You can see more of the organs here or click on the picture to go to her flickr page, Binkacrosstich.

Some great new posts here, Mandy. I am fascinated by organs, too, their form, these things that work inside of us and yet can fail.... Not to get too heavy, but my father died of stomach cancer a year ago, after a very brief period of illness, and the cancer spreading to his liver. It's only then that I thought about 'what is that liver?' etc... we live inside our heads/self so much, organs seem strange....

This may interest you but the organs were inspired by the idea of recycling and its true definition.I wanted to create sculptures which represented the ideas of organ donation being a form of,possibly the most wonderful form of recycling,I chose to use found objects to communicate the idea of and reusing objects and recycling.
