Self Portrait, charcoal on paper 1987. This is a photocopy of the original - which was my first proper sale - to someone I didn't know ! Me and my Granny, we were really good friends and I miss her a lot.
"Mandy Prowse studied painting and printmaking at Maidstone College of Art. She explores natural and human forms and the interconnectedness of all things. Themes in her work relate to birth, mortality and metamorphosis. Her altered books are minimalistic and organic combining a modern aesthetic with an almost Victorian touch. If you told me these books were 100 years old I wouldn’t think twice about it.”
