Devendra Banhart

What Will We Be is the delightful new recording by Devendra Banhart. My lovely friend bought me a ticket to his concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire last month. It was a fine evening of musical magic and mayhem. The album artwork is by Mr Banhart too.

Desk Thursday

Content the exhibition I am taking part in opened in Aldeburgh tonight, I could not get there because of industrial action on the trains. Instead I started stitching a quilt which I began 3 years ago with a glass of wine and listening to the the latest cd by Regina Spektor, Far. The flowers and the cd were presents for my birthday. Beautiful colours and the sweet peas smell gorgeous!

Babybird

Babybird Five big brick shithouses playing delicate songs with puppy-soft fingers. They rock my world - wonderful music; complex, dark and so sweet too. This is one of my favourite albums and I love the cover artwork.

Antony and the Johnsons

Antony and the Johnsons - The Crying Light. Photograph of Kazuo Ohno by Naoya Ikegami 1977.
"My new album The Crying Light is dedicated to the great dancer Kazuo Ohno. In performance I watched him cast a circle of light upon the stage, and step into that circle, and reveal the dreams and reveries of his heart. He seemed to dance in the eye of something mysterious and creative; with every gesture he embodied the child and the feminine divine. He's kind of like my art parent."
