Canadian artists Matthew Feyld, Jaret Penner and Michael Swaney are exhibiting at Gallery Steinsland Berliner in Stockholm, Sweden until 23rd September.

'They are fun and straight, yet thoughtful calm and poetic. Their stories revolve around characters in what may have started out as a depiction of reality, but in the end became something entirely different. Or if possible the other way around. The imagery is a modern version of traditional folk art, full of life, movement and color, varying from simple, unadorned, and a myriad of details.'

Fika

I didn't stop for coffee today, this was from my last visit to Fika in Brick Lane in the Wintertime. I love Swedish coffee and the saffron cake was delicious. Thankyou to everyone who keeps dropping by and for your recent comments on past posts, I have missed blogging while life has taken over and it is good to be back and always lovely to hear from you xx

Fika

A new cafe in Brick Lane, all the way from Sweden, Fika serves authentic Swedish coffee and my favourite Swedish bun! And it is right next door to the Beigel Bake. Fika is a Swedish verb which means to drink coffee with friends (usually with something sweet on the side)!

Paula Lindblom left this comment 'What a funny café!My favourite thing is just to take a FIKA for hours with my friends,Gothenburg is one of the café massives places in Sweden, so for me it´s the right place to be and live in...If I will go to London, I will absolutly visit this place!'

Asa Lockner was also represented by Konsthantverkarna at Collect. Lockner is part of a group called Made By.

Marten Medbo

Velvet series by Marten Medbo.

Marten Medbo was showing his Velvet Series at Collect. I was immediately drawn to these strange creaures which looked like they were made of felt - soft and strange. They were actually very hard and cold to the touch and were made of ceramic. Marten was represented by a gallery from Stockholm called Konsthantverkanrna which translates as The Craftspeople. The gallery is Sweden's oldest and largest craft co-operative with a membership of over 160 artists. It was their first time at Collect and their collection was really good.
