Hammersmith

A few things that caught my eye in Hammersmith this afternoon. This very charming and beautifully dressed young man called Andre agreed to have his photograph taken, outside the second hand clothing store, Traid, textile recycling for aid and international development. A Sartorialist moment :)

KNOT EXACTLY

KNOT EXACTLY- Ellen Burroughs & Sophie Axford-Hawkins at Hepsibah Gallery: A shared fascination with the nature of knots and plaits has drawn the two artists to work together for this show. For the jeweller, the literal processes of knotting and rope making are traditions which come into play, while for the draftswoman knots and plaits are signs of human intervention tying together organic materials and animal forms. 27 August - 2 September.

Bicycle <3

I bought myself an old fashioned Dutch style bicycle - I have always wanted one of these - ever since a trip to Amsterdam in the early 8o's. Having no front brake and only a back-pedal brake is taking a bit of getting used to but it is a joy to ride.

Summer in the garden

I have been looking after this flower filled garden for 2 weeks, it has been lovely to have a garden outside the back door, instead of a bicycle ride away. My friend has filled her garden with such unusual and beautiful plants and lots of delicious tomatoes. And a sure sign that Autumn is on its way - lots of spiders.

Craftaholics

It was a pleasure to be notified of another craft extravaganza which is occurring in London this Saturday, 29th August at The Old Queens Head, 44 Essex Road, London N1 8LN. You can read more on the Craftaholics blog.

The Hand of Fatima

Mariam Aryai Rivera was at the Bust Craftacular on Saturday. Mariam is based in New York and this was her first visit to London. Mariam makes Curious Jewelry for the Nostalgic Enchanted. I purchased these unusual earrings, which were displayed on Mariam's beautiful stall on a Victorian photograph. I have substituted my portrait of a bearded gentleman by photographer Henry Death. Mariam has an etsy shop, The Hand of Fatima.

Rescued & Revived Ltd.

It was lovely to see my friends Botkin and Galliers of Rescued & Revived Ltd at the Bust Craftacular. These lovely ladies only started stitching together a few months ago and they have been going down a storm with their beautiful cushions, picnic rugs and throws. I cannot believe how much they have achieved in such a short space of time.

Bust Craftacular

There were lots of wonderful things to see at the Bust Craftacular, including a pincushion cake and retro waitresses serving tea. A thoroughly enjoyable day out.
