Letterpress Love

SORT had a great collection of blocks for printing and this is the notebook I printed with my name. I hope to do more letterpress some day - it is a very beautiful art. I love the way the letters and images are embossed in the card.Wednesday, 23 September 2009
Society of Revisionist Typographers

Another event which is part of the London Design Festival is the pop-up letterpress studio of the Society of Revisionist Typographers , SORT, which is located in the Newburgh Quarter off Carnaby Street. The shop will be there until Sunday 27th September. All the workshops are fully booked but I did get the opportunity to print a notebook. It is a really inspiring place and well worth a visit. If you are not in London you can purchase items of Typographic beauty from the SORT etsy shop.

Market Coffee House

If you are in Spitalfields this is a great place to stop for some light refreshment. The Market Coffee House, 50-52 Brushfield Street, London E1. They have a flickr site too.

This lovely signage is painted on the building next door to the cafe.
Ray Johnson
Raven Row’s inaugural exhibition is the first large UK show of the collages and mailings of New York artist Ray Johnson (1927–1995). Johnson used radical means to construct and distribute images, inadvertently inventing the ‘mail art movement’. He made art out of social life – both real and imagined – gathering celebrities, the art world, and friends into his work.
