The Daily Project

Day 10 of The Daily Project. I am enjoying this task that I have set myself, to make a card every day.  Lots of other projects to think about too! Here is a selection of cards sitting on the line waiting to be packaged up. It feels good to finally open an etsy shop too.  I hope your New Year is going well.

Injector

Day six of The Daily Project and also twelfth night which sees the opening of the Feltbug shop on Etsy.  I signed up for this shop six years ago, I can't believe it has taken so long!  I plan to sell my hand-made cards, up-dating the shop on a weekly basis and maybe some other bits and pieces in the future. Happy New Year!

The Daily Project

A new year always brings a feeling of new beginnings and this year I have decided to see if I can draw a card a day for the next 365 days with the plan to put them into my etsy shop.  I will be uploading the first batch this Sunday 6th January which also happens to be twelfth night.  I started a daily drawing project 2 years ago and lasted 9 days so lets see if I can keep this one going!

Hand~Cut & Drawn

A collection of cards I have been making for the exhibition I am taking part in at Bank Gallery this month. They are all hand collaged and drawn and each card is a one-off which has been numbered. You can see the whole series here. I am planning to sell them in my etsy shop once the show is finished.

Society of Revisionist Typographers

Another event which is part of the London Design Festival is the pop-up letterpress studio of the Society of Revisionist Typographers , SORT, which is located in the Newburgh Quarter off Carnaby Street. The shop will be there until Sunday 27th September. All the workshops are fully booked but I did get the opportunity to print a notebook. It is a really inspiring place and well worth a visit. If you are not in London you can purchase items of Typographic beauty from the SORT etsy shop.

This follows on from their show Radical Lace and Subversive Knitting earlier this year. These shows are available as touring shows - if only one of the major spaces in the UK would bring these exhibits over here. Extraordinary yarns

I made my first purchase of handspun yarn and received this wonderful parcel in the post from Faun Donald of Hands & Notions. Here is her shop.

Here is a close up of the beautiful card that came with the yarn showing Faun's artwork.

I first discovered the wonderful world of handspun yarn 2 years ago when I visited the knitting supplies shop Loop in North London. They had some truly extraordinary yarn - it was like a piece of organic art - by the author of this fantastic book, Handspun Revolution, Lexi Boeger. You can visit Lexi's amazing website Pluckyfluff for more information. I had a go at making a spindle and tried to spin with it but failed - luckily there are plenty of talented artists out there making yarn to buy. Have a look at the work of Natasha Fialkov - she makes stunning creatures from her yarn too. You can find Natasha's yarn at her etsy shop, Luxe.
