If you like to mix your fine art up with more traditional craft skills, then the MA Designer Maker is not to be missed. I was lucky enough to meet both of these wonderful artists when I visited the shows last week. We had an interesting talk about their work which made visiting the shows this year even more memorable.

The Linen Cat

Gesine Hackenberg is showing work with Galerie Ra at Collect at the Saatchi Gallery in London from the 15th - 17th May.

Collect: The International Art Fair for Contemporary Objects is presented by the Crafts Council. Bringing together selected galleries from around the globe, Collect showcases the very best in decorative and applied arts.

The entrance fee is £15.00.

Tea's Up!

Contemporary Applied Arts , 2 Percy Street, London W1 is celebrating it's 60th birthday with this extravagant exhibition of English eccentricity, the cup of tea. It is a fun exhibition and there were fairy cakes galore on the opening night.

was the great quote on the invitation although unless I am mistaken, there was a distinct lack of tea-cosies in the show.

Joanne Haywood

Joanne Haywood is exhibiting her beautiful jewellery at an exhibition celebrating the 120th anniversary of the Society of Designer Craftsmen founded by William Morris and Walter Crane in 1888. The show continues at 24 Rivington Street, London EC2 until 18th October.

Jerwood Contemporary Makers

Work by Lin Cheung with tapestries by Sara Brennan in the background. There is also work by the fabulous Deirdre Nelson and Gary Breeze, Drummond Masterton, Nicholas Rena and Clare Twomey. Jerwood Space, 171 Union Street, London SE1 until 13 July.



And yes I do believe you can see Miss Feltbug wearing her new skirt which has only taken 1 year to complete! I am very slow at completing projects, partly because I like to run away whenever I can and in the last 18 months my spare time has been spent on this here computer - researching and uploading pictures. I have a lot of tasks to be completed - artists trades, and promises made. One day I might even get around to putting some things in my etsy shop - sheepish grin :)

Anyway - enough about me - back to the walking and looking . . .

Made in Hastings

Sadly I did not get time to have a really good look around the Country Living Fair but I was very happy to meet some of the people who run Made in Hastings which is a shop that I have been planning to visit for some time. They had some lovely things on their stall.

Sophie Azimont's paper rabbits were wonderful and I did end up bringing one home with me. I also saw Linda Bloomfield with her lovely ceramics and thought this company was of interest, Vintage Inspiration.

Catherine Hills is one of the artists showing work at Contemporary Applied Arts 2 Percy Street, London W1 in their new exhibition, Christmas Presence which opens today and runs until 5th January.

Daniel Storto

Daniel Storto is the cover star of American Craft magazine this month. He has a show opening at Julie Artisans' Gallery in New York on October 20th. American craft is produced by the American crafts council. I found this copy in a newsagents in South Kensington.
