Orange Pekoe

After all that excitement on the allotment I popped into Orange Pekoe for a cup of their delicious coffee. It was very busy and the only seat left in the house was this very comfy armchair in the corner.

Dandelion Clock

There are so many things to look and wonder at on the allotment.

Bug life

I moved a bucket and uncovered a busy world of the woodlouse. Press play to watch the movie.

Cloches

These plastic water bottles make great cloches for starting the beetroot seedlings off. We planted some of these without cloches too. The ones in plastic are bigger and stronger and seemed to retain the moisture really well.

Allotment

A beautiful morning at the allotment - I had not been for a few days and everything has grown so much. Our dilapidated shed needs some work, it is being held together by the plants these days:) We like to keep things as wild as possible.

Rik Snowley

Rik Snowley (1959-2008) has a retrospective of his work at the JAG gallery in Brighton from the 2nd to the 14th May. Rik was a brilliant photographer, artist and teacher with a wicked sense of humour, fabulous dress-sense (including several animal costumes) who died last year at the age of 49. His partner, family and friends have been putting this exhibition together of his eclectic work in his memory. This image is on a real record sleeve with the vinyl still inside. Rik was also known for his DJing in the rockabilly fraternity where he was called Rik Winner.

Night Dress

The cameo contains strange flowers that look like a combination of real dried flowers with hand made felt petals and a tiny spider that must have been in the flowers.

Pete Molinari

I have been enjoying listening to the latest recording from Pete Molinari, A Virtual Landslide and seeing him perform live at the Borderline was even better. You can see him at the Shepherds Bush Empire in London on the 14th May with support from Devon Sproule. That should be a good night!

Lonely Drifter Karen Grass Is Singing

video

Lonely Drifter Karen from Barcelona live at the Borderline, London. I took this footage with my digital camera, it recorded the sound as well ~ the marvels of technology that fits in your pocket! They were supporting country blues artist Pete Molinari from the Medway Delta and the whole evening was magical.

Wall

There is a HUGE creative block in the feltbug studio, I am biding my time and know it will pass but it has been going on for a few months now. I have been putting old work up on the walls to try and jog that part of my brain that is dormant. I have been LOOKING; visiting galleries, borrowing library books, taking photographs of the world around me, browsing flickr and LISTENING; to many wonderful musicians, BLOGGING and reading so many blogs full of wonder and delight so things are not so still. Maybe I am too busy with all these voices and influences. Life holds little time for standing still and being silent.

On Monday night things stood still for a little while at a wonderful gig I went to and the walls came tumbling down:)

Spring evening

Rest in peace

Shipley's art book shop in Charing Cross Road is no longer with us. A sad day when I saw this.

Tomb

I saw this beautiful tomb in a small cemetery in South West London. Inscribed with the words Coade, London which refers to the material it is made from. Coade stone was first created by Mrs Elinor Coade (1733-1821), and sold commercially from 1769 to 1833.

Sasja Saptenno

Jewellery by Sasja Saptenno.

In Holland, there are approximately 16 million people and 13 million bikes. Multiply the number of bikes x 2 and you get a rough calculation of at least 26 million inner tubes.

What happens to all those inner tubes when they are beyond repair? Jewelry designer Sasja Saptenno has found a creative way for people to accessorize with them! Sasja obtains her materials from bike shops, neighbors, and even off of her own bike!

Have a look at Sasja's website, (accessorylab) for more wonderful creations, and you can read more on her blog.

Thanks to Haute Nature for the link and Bikehacks for the information!
